Truett McConnell World Missions Center relaunches

CLEVELAND, Ga. — On Monday, October 12, the Truett McConnell University World Missions Center relaunched with a vision that reaches far beyond its walls. For World Missions Center Coordinator, Gracie Hudson, the Center is meant to be more than a place students visit. She hopes it will become a catalyst for a campus-wide heart for the nations, where meaningful engagement and a growing understanding of God’s heart for the lost overflow into every corner of TMU. “Missions and reaching the lost shouldn’t be something we think about or participate in just once a year,” Hudson shares.

To introduce the Center’s vision and encourage ongoing involvement, the World Missions Center hosted two sessions inviting students, faculty, and staff to explore the space and learn how they can participate in its mission. These sessions featured Mrs. Stephanie Lyon, who shared about her missions’ experience in London and Armenia, and TMU senior James Lester, who reflected on his summer serving in Europe with Greater Europe Missions.

Kaylee Wimpey, a senior Global Studies student, also led participants through a refugee simulation grounded in the real, heartbreaking testimonies from refugees across Europe. This session provided students with an opportunity to grow in their understanding of the need for the Gospel across Europe and unite in prayer for the people of that region and the work God is doing there.

As the World Missions Center moves forward, Gracie’s prayer is that missions will be woven into the heartbeat of campus life and shape everyday conversations and prayers. Her vision is a united TMU, with students and faculty from every discipline, athletes included, collaborating in obedience to God to move closer to fulfilling the Great Commission.

The relaunch marks a new chapter for the World Missions Center and invites the entire campus to take part in making Christ known among the nations.
