Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.
1 Peter 5:8
Our adversary is constantly maneuvering to hinder our walk with the Lord. From questioning the character of God and His word to Eve in the garden, to accusing Joshua the High Priest in heaven, sifting Peter by the fire, or attacking us in a diversity of ways. Satan is ever seeking to devour those who have trusted in Christ.
One way to victory against the attacks of Satan is to remember this portion of the prayer Christ taught the disciples, “And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one (Matthew 6:13).”
What wisdom, to call on Him to help us avoid even the temptations Satan would love bring into our lives. Let’s ask our all-knowing heavenly Father to direct our steps away from the paths of temptation the enemy would love to lead us down and “instead lead us into the paths of righteousness for His namesake (Psalm 23:3).” The question now is, will we follow where He leads?
