Where there is no vision…

Scripture for today: Prov. 29:14
As our consumption of media continues to increase, our commitment level to issues that matter most, particularly those related to faith, has decreased. That said, as commitment diminishes, boredom grows.
According to Scripture, “Where there is no vision, the people perish” (Proverbs 29:18). The word for perish in the original language can also mean to ignore, avoid, and neglect.
Such lack of commitment leads to absence of vision, which ushers in boredom and disregard.
Years ago, when a hydroelectric dam was to be built across a valley in Maine, the people in a certain community were relocated because their town was going to be submerged. During the time between the decision and actual evacuation, the town, which had once been well-kept, severely deteriorated. The people saw no reason to maintain a place that would soon be under water. As one resident said, “Where there is no faith in the future, there is no work in the present.”
Though you may feel you’re walking through mud, trudge on, knowing better and brighter days are ahead.
