CHARLOTTE, North Carolina (BP)—SBC President Clint Pressley announced on Monday, May 4, that John Pendelton will chair the Registration Committee for the 2026 SBC Annual Meeting in Orlando in June. Pendleton, pastor of Bardstown Baptist Church in Bardstown, Kentucky, was a member of the committee in 2025.

Reaching a peak in the 1980s and 1990s, some research shows that up to four million church members are involved in short-term trips each year, largely going in age-defined groups.

CORDELE, Ga. —  For eight days beginning on April 10, the Crisp County Courthouse in Cordele was the site of the first-ever Crisp County Bible Reading Marathon. Volunteers gathered there to read the Bible from cover to cover.

Bible study: Honor

Matthew 22 begins with another parable shared by Jesus. He compares the Kingdom of God with a wedding feast. The king sends out his servants to invite the guests to come and dine and celebrate. Everything is ready. However, when the servants go out, they’re mistreated and killed.

Before becoming a director of missions, and even more so while serving in that role, Rick Standard saw a need that kept surfacing among pastors, especially those in small and mid-sized churches. They needed encouragement. They needed rest. They needed time away with their families and a chance to step back from the steady weight of ministry. In retirement, Standard found a way to help meet that need.

NASHVILLE (BP) — The SBC Committee on Nominations has released its 2026 report in advance of the 2026 SBC Annual Meeting to be held June 9-10. Per SBC bylaws, the report is to be released through Baptist Press no later than 45 days prior to the gathering.
