ATHENS, Ga. (AP) — Georgia’s recent frustrations in the Southeastern Conference championship game are providing extra motivation for the Bulldogs to remain focused this week. Saturday’s matchup against No. 11 LSU in Atlanta will be No. 1 Georgia’s fifth SEC championship game in the last six seasons under coach Kirby Smart. The Bulldogs’ only SEC title in that span came in 2017.

Michigan moved up to No. 2 in The Associated Press college football poll, with Texas Christian University at No. 3 and Southern California at No. 4 behind top-ranked Georgia after four top-10 teams lost on the final day of regular-season games. The Bulldogs are No. 1 for the eighth straight week and 11th time this season in the AP Top 25. Georgia received 58 first-place votes and Michigan received the other five.

LANDOVER, Md. (AP) — Taylor Heinicke threw for two touchdown passes in a run-heavy game in the rain to help the Washington Commanders beat the Atlanta Falcons 19-13 for their fifth win in six games since he took over as starting quarterback. Kendall Fuller intercepted Marcus Mariota in the end zone with 58 seconds left to help the Commanders improve to 7-5.

DOHA, Qatar (AP) — Morocco pulled off another shock at the World Cup by beating Belgium 2-0 and leaving Kevin de Bruyne and the 2018 semifinalists in peril of a group-stage exit. Morocco captain Romain Saiss gave his team the lead with a barely noticeable deflection off his hip after a free kick from Abdelhamid Sabiri in the 73rd minute.

AL KHOR, Qatar (AP) — Germany forward Niclas Füllkrug salvaged a 1-1 draw against Spain at the World Cup. The Germans still need to win their last group match to have a chance of advancing to the knockout stage. The four-time champions were eliminated in the group stage four years ago in Russia.

ATLANTA (AP) — Deivon Smith led a balanced attack with 16 points and Georgia Tech breezed to an 80-61 victory over North Alabama on Saturday.

STATESBORO, Ga. (AP) — Kyle Vantrease threw a 25-yard touchdown pass to Ezrah Archie for the game-winning score to lead Georgia Southern to a dramatic 51-48 double overtime win over Appalachian State on Saturday night.

ATHENS, Ga. (AP) — A perfect regular season isn't good enough for Stetson Bennett and No. 1 Georgia. Bennett threw two touchdown passes and Georgia completed back-to-back undefeated regular seasons for the first time in school history by overcoming a slow start to beat Georgia Tech 37-14 on Saturday.

STATESBORO, Ga. (AP) — Carlos Curry's 30 points led Georgia Southern over Oglethorpe 101-73 on Saturday. Curry added 15 rebounds for the Eagles (4-3). Kamari Brown added 20 points while going 9 of 12 and 1 of 4 from the free throw line, and he also had three steals. Amar Augillard recorded 12 points and shot 6 of 7 from the field.

Marshall closes out Georgia St. in 28-23 win

HUNTINGTON, W. Va. (AP) — Cam Fancher threw two touchdown passes and Khalan Laborn ran for two scores and Marshall ended the regular season beating Georgia State 28-23 on Saturday.

James Madison downs Coastal Georgia 100-54

SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) — Xavier Brown scored 17 points as James Madison beat Coastal Georgia 100-54 on Friday.

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. (AP) — The Atlanta Falcons are not ruling out tight end Kyle Pitts and defensive end Ta’Quon Graham for the season, even though coach Arthur Smith said Wednesday each starter will have surgery.

FORT MYERS, Fla. (AP) — Kam Jones scored 19 points, Tyler Kolek added 14 points with six assists and Marquette beat Georgia Tech 84-60 on Wednesday night for third place at the Fort Myers Tip-Off.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) — Jordan “Jelly” Walker scored 19 of his 30 points in the second half when UAB ran away from Georgia for a 87-73 win on Tuesday in the championship game of the Sunshine Slam Beach Bracket.

CLEVELAND (AP) — Donovan Mitchell had 29 points and nine assists, and Darius Garland scored 26 points, sending the Cleveland Cavaliers to a 114-102 victory over the Atlanta Hawks on Monday night in the teams’ first meeting since the play-in tournament last season.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — Jordan Chatman and Hantz Louis-Jeune each hit two free throws in the final 10 seconds of overtime to allow Florida A&M to hold off upset-minded, Division II Albany State, 70-65 on Monday night to earn its first win in five starts.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) — Kario Oquendo scored 15 points and Georgia posted a comfortable 66-53 victory over Saint Joseph's at the Sunshine Slam on Monday night.

FORT MYERS, Fla. (AP) — Gabe Madsen scored 16 points and Utah held off Georgia Tech 68-64 on Monday night in the Fort Myers Tip-Off. Georgia Tech led 57-54 with 7:22 left in the second half but didn’t make another field goal until the closing seconds when Deivon Smith was fouled on a layup and an official review determined there was a goaltending violation on Utah. Smith made the free throw for a three-point play to pull within 66-64 with 39.7 seconds left.

Campbell routs Kennesaw State 85-61

BOONE, N.C. (AP) — Juan Reyna’s 27 points helped Campbell defeat Kennesaw State 85-61 on Sunday. Reyna shot 7 for 10 (4 for 7 from 3-point range) and 9 of 9 from the free-throw line for the Fighting Camels (3-2).

ATLANTA (AP) — Marcus Mariota and the Atlanta Falcons are still under .500 and still in the thick of the NFC South race. Younghoe Koo's 53-yard field goal gave Atlanta the lead with less than two minutes to play and the Falcons overcame another impressive game from Chicago's Justin Fields to beat the Bears 27-24 on Sunday.
