NEW YORK (AP) — Shohei Ohtani became a two-way All-Star for the third straight year when he was picked for the American League pitching staff on Sunday, and eight Atlanta Braves were chosen for the July 11 game in Seattle — the most of any team since 2012. Ohtani was elected to the pitching staff by players 10 days after fans voted him to start at designated hitter. Ohtani appeared on the most ballots among AL players. He is the only two-way All-Star in major league history.

ATLANTA (AP) — Ozzie Albies' two-run homer in the fifth gave Atlanta the lead and the Braves overcame an early two-run deficit to beat the Miami Marlins 6-3 on Sunday for their 16th win in 17 games. The Braves won their eighth straight and completed a three-game sweep to extend their lead over second-place Miami in the NL East to nine games. Atlanta has won 10 in a row at home and 23 of 26 overall.

Ronald Acuña and Ozzie Albies homered as part of a six-run first inning and the Atlanta Braves beat the Miami Marlins 7-0 as major league batting leader Luis Arraez saw his average dip to .388. …

The New York Yankees right-hander pitched the 24th perfect game in major league history Wednesday night, retiring every Oakland batter in an 11-0 victory over the Athletics.

ATLANTA (AP) — Ronald Acuña Jr. hit two of Atlanta's five homers — all in the first two innings — and the power-hitting Braves beat Joe Ryan and the Minnesota Twins 6-2 on Tuesday night. Acuña sparked the barrage of long balls by hitting Ryan's first pitch into the Braves' bullpen in right field. Thanks to a productive June, the Braves lead the majors with 146 homers. Beginning the night, the Los Angeles Dodgers were second with 124.

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — LSU went from its low point of the season to the ultimate high in a span of 24 hours. A day after it gave up the most runs ever in a College World Series game, LSU cranked up its offense and won its first national title since 2009 with an 18-4 victory over Florida on Monday night in the third and deciding game of the finals.

ATLANTA (AP) — Marcell Ozuna was increasingly frustrated against Sonny Gray, a history he updated in his mind with his latest strikeout in his first at-bat on Monday night. “I strike out for maybe the fifth time,” Ozuna said. Ozuna responded with a go-ahead homer off Gray in the seventh, Spencer Strider allowed three hits in seven innings while striking out 10 and the Atlanta Braves beat the Minnesota 4-1 in the Twins' first visit to Atlanta in seven years.

CINCINNATI (AP) — Matt Olson hit a go-ahead three-run homer in the sixth inning and the Atlanta Braves held on for another wild 7-6 victory over the Cincinnati Reds on Sunday. The Braves, who snapped the Reds' longest winning streak in 66 years at 12 games with a 7-6 win on Saturday, have won 17 of their last 20.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Marcell Ozuna hit a two-run homer to cap a five-run 10th inning, and the Atlanta Braves beat the Philadelphia Phillies 5-1 Thursday for their eighth straight win. The Braves swept the rain-shortened two-game series in their first appearance in Philadelphia since falling to the Phillies in four games during last year's NL Division Series.

Next year's Copa América in the United States will kick off on June 20 and the final will be played on July 17. South American soccer body CONMEBOL confirmed the dates on Tuesday and said tournament organizers have yet to pick the host cities.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Spencer Strider struck out nine over six innings in his first start in Philadelphia since his postseason implosion, Austin Riley and Matt Olson homered and the Atlanta Braves beat the Phillies 4-2 on Tuesday night. The Braves made their first trip to Philly since the NL Division Series that launched Red October into a full-blown frenzy.

ATLANTA (AP) — The Atlanta Braves designated infielder Charlie Culberson for assignment hours before his father was set to throw out a ceremonial first pitch on Father's Day. Culberson, a 34-year-old from Rome, Georgia, was cut before Sunday's game against Colorado. He was brought up from Triple-A Gwinnett on May 19 but had not appeared in any games since his promotion.

ATLANTA (AP) — Eddie Rosario homered twice and drove in six runs, and the Atlanta Braves beat the slumping Colorado Rockies 14-6 on Sunday for their sixth consecutive victory. Michael Harris II went 5 for 5 and scored three times for Atlanta, which erased a 5-0 deficit. Harris and Ozzie Albies each hit a three-run drive, helping the Braves increase their major league-leading total to 126 homers.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Christian Pulisic scored late in the first half and early in the second, Ricardo Pepi added a late goal and the United States beat Mexico 3-0 on Thursday night to reach the CONCACAF Nations League final against Canada. Pulisic made his first start for club or country since April 15, put the U.S. ahead in the 37th minute and doubled the lead in the 46th.

ATLANTA (AP) — Ozzie Albies had three hits and three RBIs, and the Atlanta Braves beat the Colorado Rockies 8-3 on Thursday night to give 20-year-old rookie AJ Smith-Shawver his first major league win. Smith-Shawver (1-0) gave up three runs and six hits over 5 2/3 innings in his second career start. He struck out six, walked one and allowed two solo homers.

DETROIT (AP) — The Atlanta Braves have a relentless lineup from top to bottom, posing problems for opponents. Eddie Rosario hit a tiebreaking home run in the sixth inning and Atlanta held on to beat the Detroit Tigers 6-5 Wednesday night and sweep a doubleheader.

DETROIT (AP) — Atlanta Braves slugger Marcell Ozuna has avoided a serious injury to his right wrist after being hit by a pitch Monday night. Ozuna was sent to a hospital for testing after leaving a 6-5 loss to the Detroit Tigers when he was struck by a pitch from Garrett Hill.

DETROIT (AP) — Spencer Torkelson sparked a three-run, ninth-inning rally against Raisel Iglesias with a two-run homer and hit a game-ending single in the 10th, lifting Detroit over the Atlanta Braves 6-5 on Monday night to stop the Tigers' nine-game losing streak. “This is huge, because the last 10 days haven't been much fun,” Torkelson said.

PARIS (AP) — Novak Djokovic returned to No. 1 in the ATP rankings on Monday, replacing Carlos Alcaraz there, after winning the French Open for a men's-record 23rd Grand Slam title. Djokovic now will add to the record he already held for the most weeks leading the tennis rankings — men's or women's — since the computerized system was set up a half-century ago.
