KANSAS CITY, Mo—The NCCAA Southwest Region recently announced its selections for the 2022-2023 Men’s Basketball honors. Amongst the recipients, Spurgeon College Men’s Basketball Coach Billy Livezey won the Coach of the Year Award. Additionally, two players on the team received national honors. Livezey, who completed his first year as head coach at Spurgeon College this year, led the men’s basketball team in a historic season.

KENNESAW, Ga. (AP) — Terrell Burden scored 19 points and made a free throw with less than a second left to rally Kennesaw State to a 67-66 victory over Liberty on Sunday, earning the Owls their first Atlantic Sun Conference championship and their first trip to the NCAA Tournament.

(AP) — Georgia's Stegeman Coliseum has been closed for repairs after a small piece of concrete fell from the ceiling of the nearly 60-year-old facility that hosts several of the university's sports teams and school graduation ceremonies in the spring. No one was injured when the concrete fell on Wednesday, the school said.

Moore shot 6 for 12 from the floor, including 4 for 5 from 3-point range, for the Eagles (16-15). Kamari Brown scored 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds, while Jalen Finch scored 14.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Nolan Smith poured out his heart Wednesday at the NFL's annual scouting combine. He shed some tears, too. On a stage he'd always dreamed about taking, the former Georgia defensive star stood before a group of reporters and gave an emotional memorial about his friend and former college teammate, Devin Willock, who was killed in a car crash Jan. 15. Smith even apologized to Willock's mother who has now had two sons die in traffic accidents.

KENNESAW, Ga. (AP) — Demond Robinson scored 24 points and top-seeded Kennesaw State beat Queens 67-66 on Tuesday night in an ASUN quarterfinal matchup. Chris Youngblood's jump shot with 2:21 left gave the Owls (24-8) a 62-60 lead and they led for the remainder.

ATHENS, Ga. (AP) — Will Richard hit five 3-pointers and finished with 24 points, Myreon Jones had a double-double and Florida beat Georgia 77-67 on Tuesday night to snap a three-game losing streak. Florida secured a first-round bye in the SEC Tournament, which begins March 8 in Nashville, Tennessee.

ATLANTA (AP) — The Washington Wizards spoiled Quin Snyder's Atlanta coaching debut, getting 37 points from Bradley Beal and 28 from Kyle Kuzma in a 119-116 victory over the Hawks on Tuesday night. Beal hit a pull-up jumper with 35.3 seconds left that gave the short-handed Wizards a 117-113 lead after they trailed nearly the entire second half.

ATLANTA (AP) — The Atlanta Falcons released quarterback Marcus Mariota on Tuesday, a move that was expected after the veteran was benched late in the season. The Falcons were 5-8 with Mariota as the starter before rookie Desmond Ridder started the final four games, winning two.

Most notably, Steve Jackson will take over as secondary coach, while David Huxtable has been hired as a senior defensive assistant after spending 40 years at the collegiate level. Jackson and Huxtable will work under new defensive coordinator Ryan Nielsen, who was hired away from the rival New Orleans Saints last month after the retirement of Dean Pees.

ATLANTA (AP) — Quin Snyder has been hired as coach of the Atlanta Hawks to replace the fired Nate McMillan, the team announced Sunday. The Hawks reached an agreement with Snyder on a five-year deal only five days after firing McMillan on Tuesday. The team has scheduled a news conference for Monday to introduce Snyder. The announcement from the team Sunday came shortly after the Hawks’ second straight win under interim coach Joe Prunty, a buzzer-beating 129-127 win over the Brooklyn Nets.

MACON, Ga. (AP) — Luis Hurtado's 12 points helped Mercer defeat The Citadel 72-50 on Saturday. Hurtado had eight rebounds for the Bears (13-18, 6-12 Southern Conference). Jalyn McCreary added 12 points while shooting 6 of 11 from the field, and he also had six rebounds.

ATHENS, Ga. (AP) — D'Moi Hodge and Nick Honor combined for 11 3-pointers and 35 points as Missouri took off in the second half to beat Georgia 85-63 on Saturday. Trailing by a point, the Tigers (21-8, 9-7 SEC) outscored the Bulldogs 45-22 in the second half, finishing with seven 3s in each half on 28 total attempts. Hodge hit six 3s and scored 18 points, Honor added five 3s and had 17 points with Noah Carter adding 12 points and DeAndre Gholston 10.

ATLANTA (AP) — Javon Franklin had 21 points and 14 rebounds and Georgia Tech picked up its fourth win in its last six games, pulling away late to post an 83-67 win over Louisville on Saturday. The Yellow Jackets snapped a nine-game losing streak with a 70-68 win over Notre Dame on a buzzer-beating tip-in on Feb. 8. Since that win, they have beaten Virginia Tech, Florida Tech and now Louisville to split the season series.

ATLANTA (AP) — The Atlanta Hawks returned from the All-Star break — and a coaching change — refreshed and motivated. The Cleveland Cavaliers, playing on the second night of a back-to-back, couldn't match Atlanta's energy and drive. Trae Young scored 34 points and the Hawks beat the Cavaliers 136-119 on Friday night in their first game under interim coach Joe Prunty.

CONWAY, Ark. (AP) — Demond Robinson had 13 points in Kennesaw State's 72-56 victory over Central Arkansas on Friday night. Robinson was 5 of 6 shooting and 3 of 4 from the free throw line for the Owls (23-8, 15-3 Atlantic Sun Conference).
